CSYC Core Choirs (PK-12th) meet weekly in two convenient locations from Sept-May, and combine for performances:
CSYC Fan meets on Tuesdays evenings (Fall 2026 times are under revision) at 2709 Monument Avenue, in the facilities of Richmond’s First Baptist Church.
CSYC Chesterfield meets on Thursday evenings at 4101 Fordham Rd, North Chesterfield the facilities of St. Luke’s Methodist Church. (Location opening Fall 2026!)
At both locations, singers are assigned by grade/age to one of three levels:
CSYC Elementary Choir for PK-2nd grades with unchanged voices. Singing! Games! Rhythm! Rhymes! Fun-meets-music-making in this engaging and artistically rich setting, which prepares singers to participate in CSYC concerts and a lifetime of meaningful music making. Weekly home practice materials are provided, but not often required.
CSYC Progressing Choir for 3rd-6th grades with unchanged voices. Learn to ‘sing strong’ in a joyful and encouraging learning environment. Rounds, part songs, intermediate choral skills and more prepare singers to participate in CSYC concerts and a lifetime of meaningful music making. Weekly home practice required.
CSYC Upper Choir for 7th-12th grade with unchanged and changed voices. No auditions required to participate in this group, and rehearsals are position and encouraging, and also rigorous and demanding. Weekly home practice required.
Singers in Progressing and Upper Choirs also combine into Treble Ensemble (high voices only) and Tenor-Bass Ensemble (lowered voices). This occurs within weekly rehearsals.
