Give the Gift of Song…

How much does a concert cost?

If you bring together 80 young singers from across Richmond, book one world-class soloist, create educational materials to best benefit your audience and singers, record said concert for posterity because it’s the only event of its kind EVER, and you’re really, really good at living within your means? About $1000.00.

This concert is happening.

Two non-profit 501(c)3 organizations–One Voice Chorus and City Singers Youth Choirs–are organizing a concert free to the public on Dec 2.  The concert will include performances by the above choirs as well as Elkhardt-Thompson Middle School Choir (a Richmond Public School), Collegiate School (a private school) and soprano Dr. Lisa Edwards-Burrs.  A collaboration of this sort has never been done in Richmond, and will be innovative in both its presentation of songs from the African-American tradition as well as its social outcome of bringing young people who love to sing together in joyful appreciation of the significant contributions of African-Americans to choral music.

Both One Voice Chorus and City Singers Youth Choirs depend upon charitable contributions for more than half of their budgets. To help make this concert as accessible as possible to all audience members, you can donate $5, $10 or $100.  Have a business and want to be a title sponsor?
